The Golf Course
Mar Menor golf is an extremely popular course with a large membership and equally sought after by tourists. The Jack Nicklaus designed course is pleasantly flat and very playable for golfers of all levels. The course is challenging in places and is presented in excellent condition all year round. After a straight forward start you reach the challenging 3rd hole, a par 4 that features a lake running from your approach distance all the way to the green. Holes 13, 14 and 15, Mar Menor's own Amen Corner run around a huge lake and are a threat to anyones scorecard. Navigate this stretch of holes and the tough 16th and you can hopefully breeze in to the excellent clubhouse that looks back to the 18th green.
The Resort
Mar Menor is a fantastic resort centred around the clubhouse and the attached 5 star Intercontinental Hotel. The golf course and stunning hotel swimming pool provide a gorgeous backdrop for golfers and non-golfers alike when enjoying an afternoon cocktail or dinner. The resort also has an excellent commercial centre with a selection of restaurants offering everything from traditional spanish tapas to American cuisine and Indian food. There are several popular bars offering evening entertainment as well as a late night venue for those who still haven't had enough! The resort also features padel courts, children's play areas and more to keep the family entertained.
Location - Area Guide
The resort of Mar Menor Golf sits in between the busy towns of Torre Pacheco and Los Alcazares, both of which are just 5 minutes away. Los Alcazares sits on the coasts and offers an excellent main strip with bars and restaurants aimed at expats and tourists while the small streets of the town offer some excellent spots to enjoy traditional Spanish cuisine and culture. Torre Pacheco is a more traditional Spanish town offering everything you need on a daily basis including a chance to practice your Spanish with the locals. Mar Menor sits less than 10 minutes from several lovely beaches, 4 more golf courses and also has the popular dos mares shopping mall nearby. With great links to the AP7 motorway, you are less than 15 minutes from Murcia airport.
